“Rabbi Yitzchak said, “Why is the shofar sounded on Rosh Hashanah?”” To clarify the question, the Talmud interjects, “Could the question be why it is sounded? The Torah decreed, “Sound the shofar!” Instead, the question is… why the shofar is sounded with long and short bursts when all are seated and then again when all are standing.
